Do you think that the Cape Girardeau area needs a waterslide? As you may recall, back a couple of years ago the city proposed building one in conjunction with a tax bond issue that did not pass with the voters at that time. However, there seemed to be a tremendous amount of support for one. Let us know how you feel about this type of recreational facility in our area?

I would like it. Our kids need something to do in the summer and this would keep them and our money in the area. How can we get this back on the table?

Why does the city have to build it? A local businessman had one for years between Cape and Jackson and must have made money with it if it was open all of those years. Farmington and Poplar Bluff businessmen built those.

It’s hard to think about swimming and waterslides when the prediction of snow and ice, but I would be all for it. How can we get this back out to the public?

Tom, Paducah seems to be a smaller populated town than Cape however they have several big city stores that we don’t have, ie World Market, Linens N Things, TJ Max etc. Is there any way we can get these stores in our town? The old Kay’s Merchandise building would be a good spot for a couple of these stores as well as the old Barnes and Noble/Pier One building.
You seem to be the guy to do it!
    Thanks!

Elizabeth, thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate your confidence. Yes, we would love to see those retailers in our market. The good news is that traditionally the retailers and franchises that you see come to Paducah do explore our Cape Girardeau market. This has held true for a number of years. Most folks may not realize it, but Cape’s population is larger than Paducah’s !!! We will keep working on them and since I presently have the former K’s Merchandise property listed for sale or lease, I would love to put one of these businesses or several of them in it.
